Theater Ticket Sales Statistics (Top Highlights)
Broadway’s 2024-25 season generated $1.893 billion in gross ticket sales and 14.66 million total admissions.
Broadway’s 2024-25 season included 43 new productions and 1,712 playing weeks.
Broadway’s 2018-19 season still had slightly higher attendance than 2024-25, at 14.77 million versus 14.66 million.
Based on published season totals, Broadway’s approximate average paid admission reached about $129.13 in 2024-25.
For the week ending March 29, 2026, Broadway grossed $38.66 million from 294,349 admissions across 36 shows.
As of March 29, 2026, Broadway’s 2025-26 season-to-date gross was $1.588 billion, up 6.8% from the same point a year earlier.
West End theaters welcomed more than 17.1 million attendees in 2024 across 18,500 performances.
West End attendance in 2024 was 11% above pre-pandemic levels, and SOLT said the district welcomed nearly 5 million more audience members than Broadway.
SOLT said that in 2024 the majority of West End tickets sold for £56 or less, more than a quarter sold for under £35, and fewer than 4% were above £150.
Theatre Communications Group said U.S. nonprofit theaters’ 2023 total ticket income was still 29% below 2019 in inflation-adjusted terms.
The National Endowment for the Arts said 25.0% of U.S. adults attended at least one live, in-person performance and/or art exhibit in the previous month during spring and summer 2024.
Broadway’s 2024-25 season posted the highest raw gross in the League’s summary table. Because that season included an extra week, it is best read as a raw total rather than a perfect like-for-like comparison with a standard 52-week season.
Attendance has largely recovered in raw terms, but Broadway’s 2024-25 total was still just below the 2018-19 peak. That is notable because 2024-25 had an extra week, which makes the still-higher 2018-19 attendance figure even more impressive.
Broadway Approximate Average Paid Admission by Season
Using the published season gross and attendance totals, Broadway’s approximate average paid admission moved back above the pre-pandemic benchmark. That suggests pricing and premium-seat mix stayed strong even as the industry worked to rebuild volume.

The West End recovery has been strong enough to move above its pre-pandemic attendance benchmark. SOLT said 2024 attendance reached more than 17.1 million across 18,500 performances, and that the West End welcomed nearly 5 million more audience members than Broadway.
SOLT also said the majority of West End tickets sold for £56 or less in 2024, with more than a quarter sold for under £35 and fewer than 4% sold above £150. That points to a market where headline premium prices exist, but the bulk of ticket volume still sits much lower.
The latest weekly snapshot shows Broadway still producing very large box office totals, even though the March 29, 2026 week ran below the comparable week a year earlier. At the same time, season-to-date gross stood at $1.588 billion and season-to-date attendance reached 11.94 million, leaving Broadway ahead of last season at the same point on both revenue and admissions.
What These Theater Ticket Sales Statistics Show
The biggest commercial theater markets are holding up well. Broadway remains a billion-dollar ticketing market, while the West End has now moved above its pre-pandemic attendance level and continues to attract mass audiences even as the wider experience economy faces pressure.
Outside the largest commercial hubs, the picture is less complete. Theatre Communications Group said U.S. nonprofit theaters recovered from their 2022 low in 2023, but total ticket income was still 29% below 2019 after inflation and overall attendance was down 22% over that four-year span. Subscription attendance, however, was only 1% below 2019, which suggests committed theatergoers came back faster than the casual audience.
That matters because broader arts participation is still meaningful. The NEA reported that 25.0% of U.S. adults attended at least one live, in-person performance and/or art exhibit in the previous month during spring and summer 2024, showing that demand for live cultural experiences remains real even as theaters continue competing for consumer time and discretionary spending.
