Sonos Arc relies on HDMI ARC or eARC to receive TV audio, so even a small setup mismatch can stop sound entirely.

The most common causes are incorrect TV audio settings, a weak HDMI cable, disabled CEC control, or an incompatible TV port.

Because HDMI ARC uses both audio return and device communication, the problem is often not the Arc itself but the handshake between the TV, the soundbar, and the connected source.

That is why a systematic check usually works better than random resets.

Check the TV Port and Cable First

The first thing to verify is that the Sonos Arc is connected to the correct HDMI port on the television.

Most TVs label this port as ARC or eARC, and it is usually only one specific HDMI input.

  • Connect the Arc to the TV’s HDMI ARC or eARC port only.
  • Use the Sonos-supplied HDMI cable or a certified High Speed HDMI cable.
  • Do not route the Arc through an AVR, splitter, or switch during testing.
